Justin's Post

I am a player on the Ghana's soccer team. My name is Stephen Appiah and I am the captain of Ghana's team. I am very respected in my nation by all people and i have led me team to many victories except the Fifa world cup. We are playing in the 2010 Fifa world cup. Our first two games and Serbia vs. Ghana and Australia vs. Ghana. Serbia and Australia are two very well known and are very good teams. It is going to be a challege to defeat these team but me and my team belive if we can achieve greatness. Our nation also believes in us and that will win our first Fifa world cup. If we win the tournament our nation will party and worship us for year to come. We will go down in history as the small African nation to win the Fifa world cup. Yet, if we loose this we will be shunned and outcasted out of our nation. There is a possiblity that some die heart fans will try to kill. Last fifa world cup one of our players won the golden shoe award. Yet other nations do not believe that we will get far at all in the tournament. Our team is a very dangerous team to underrate and if anyone would go back and watch our performance in 2006, then they'll fear this slightly unpopular team. Ghana has alot of good players such as Stephen Appiah, and John Paintsil who has played in Turkey and in England. Hopefully we can have the opportunity to win the amazing tournament and it would be a great honor. Justin.

Mike's Post

Ghana is located in the northeast part of Africa.  The national soccer team was started in 1957, after they declared independence.  Just a year later, they joined FIFA and CAF.  Although they have never won a FIFA world cup, they have placed in the Olympics, as well as many other world championships.  2 years ago, they placed higher than they ever have at the FIFA cup.  They placed 14th.  The Black stars as they are called have on many African Cup of Nations, they have been finalists at FIFA, and various other mojor titles.
Ghana is a soccer crazed country with hundreds of youth teams throughout the country.  Although soccer is their pride and joy, the Ghana president wants there to be more than just soccer to Ghana.  He is starting programs for track, basketball, and field hockey.  He wants the country to still have the soccer craze, but he recognizes that soccer isn't everyone's sport.  He wants to offer choices just like we have choices about sports here in the states, we don't have just baseball and football.  Even though Ghana is a new country, and has a new soccer team, they have done amazing for the amount of time they have been around.  Placing 14th in the FIFA is really good, considering that over 100 countries compete.
The Ghana team is nicknamed the black stars for the color of their skin, and for their unbelivable talent.  Winning this year will be a huge victory for both the team and the whole state.  The country will go wild if they win, but will still be proud if they don't.
